07:50 pm - Meet River A week and a half ago, someone found a kitten hiding in a paper bag out in the freezing rain. The kitten was starving and wild. They took the kitten to their vet.
On Sunday, she came home to live with us.

Meet River, the latest addition to our family.
River arrived under weight, under developed, and kinda feral.
On Sunday, River mostly hid from us.
On Monday, River hid from us a lot. We started to catch on just how little experience she had with people. We found her to be a mysterious mystery.
On Tuesday, River played a little bit. It was obvious to us that she was still too weak and sick to be a proper kitten. We took her to City Cats in Arlington where some expert care (and saline) put a new sparkle into her eye.
Now River is starting to act like a kitten. She's lobbying to be given the run of the house so she can meet Dali and Barda (um, not yet) and she's been trying to figure out how to enter the village and meet Gorgo and Tillicus who really, really fascinate her (sorry, but no).
She plays crazily - almost as much as you'd expect from a kitten. Today, for the first time, she really asked for food - and at last, she's starting to eat like a starving cat should eat.
River has a lot to learn. She doesn't know much about being a Kitten, or being a cat. I think we confuse her terribly. And she's just so small and scrawny that it can be a little scary.
But she lives here now. She has a home. She has a family. She has all the catfood, treats, and chicken soup she wants.

Merry Xmas River, and welcome home.

Comments:
Om nom nom! River, I hope you are happy in your new home!
River is a very, very lucky little cat.
Kitty!! Kittykittykitty!
In other news, we ought to get together sometime after I get back from winter break. Because it is unjust that I have been living in Boston for three months and we haven't hung out.

oh my goodness that is an adorable wild beast you have there.
Aww, kitty face. I like her crazy nighttime camo markings.
River looks just like my departed Jester Cat! She could not have picked a better set of Mommies to live with. Hooray for River and hooray for the two of you. |
